Student Business Data Analyst

Anaheim Ducks Hockey Club  ·  Apprenticeship  ·  Hybrid

Jan 2026 – Present  ·  Irvine, CA

This role is part of my UCI MSBA Capstone project, through which I was placed with the Anaheim Ducks and The Rinks (H&S Ventures / OCSE) to assess the health of the Adult Learn-to-Play program and build the analytical infrastructure needed to measure the success of future marketing and retention initiatives. The project required joining disconnected registration and ticketing systems across two database schemas and delivering four maintainable Power BI dashboards to the Ducks business intelligence team.

  • Designed and executed SQL queries in SSMS against the DASH (Rinks) and Archtics (Ticketmaster) schemas to build five analysis-ready datasets covering LTP registration records, 12-month cohort retention, pre/post-enrollment program participation, post-LTP program sequencing, and ticket sales crossover, applying client-defined business logic including revenue calculations across primary and secondary market channels.
  • Built two interactive Power BI dashboards tracking 1,285 unique LTP participants across enrollment trends, demographic breakdowns, retention depth, and post-LTP program progression, including dynamic year-over-year KPI cards, cohort retention line charts, a ranked post-LTP program sequence analysis, and both calendar and fiscal year views to align with the Ducks' June 30 fiscal year end.
  • Surfaced that 46% of LTP participants never re-enroll after their first session while 40% eventually progress to Hockey League, leading to recommendations to formalize a structured post-LTP off-ramp experience, deploy a post-completion participant survey to identify drop-off drivers, and implement demographic-targeted ticket marketing with the dashboards serving as the ongoing measurement tool for initiative success.

Program Coordinator

UCI Basic Needs Center  ·  Full-time  ·  Hybrid

Jan 2024 – Aug 2024  ·  Irvine, CA

Upon graduating from UCI, I was promoted from Basic Needs Advocate to the full-time Program Coordinator role. I took on direct oversight of the Basic Needs Advocate team, all CalFresh initiatives and day-to-day operations, and the center's marketing efforts — and made it a priority to introduce data analytics into how we tracked and optimized CalFresh assistance appointment outcomes.

Program Coordination & Student Support

  • Directed food security initiatives including CalFresh Assistance Appointments, Fresh Finances, CalFresh Enrollment Parties, and large-scale events such as UCI Orientation, Celebrate UCI, and the Mobile Pantry Grand Opening; managed end-to-end logistics including venue coordination, catering, transportation, and day-of execution in partnership with UCI Student Services, UCI Transportation, and Orange County Social Services.
  • Scheduled and managed 100–200 monthly CalFresh Assistance Appointments using Acuity Scheduling, coordinating staff availability, adjusting for cancellations, and ensuring consistent appointment coverage; managed all CalFresh communications including the program email inbox, student-facing outreach, departmental and partner correspondence, and semi-weekly personalized SAR7 and RE deadline reminders segmented by applicant type.

  • Led hiring, training, scheduling, and task delegation for a team of 15 CalFresh and marketing student employees; optimized workflow and enhanced team efficiency by 50%, ensuring timely completion of projects in high-pressure environments.
  • Directed marketing initiatives across digital and print platforms using WordPress, Mailchimp, Canva, and Meta Business Suite; led UCI's 2024 Giving Day campaign that raised record-breaking funds and increased social media engagement by 200%.

Data Management, Reporting & Administration

  • Managed data entry and analysis for CalFresh services, implementing a new Excel system with pivot tables, advanced functions, and conditional formatting that tracked eligibility data, reporting timelines, and confidential case details, resulting in a 50% improvement in data management efficiency.
  • Overhauled the center's marketing strategy by shifting from content-first to a data-driven approach, using Meta Business Suite analytics to track post performance, audience engagement, and campaign reach; used those insights to refine content strategy across platforms, contributing to a 200% increase in social media engagement and a record-breaking Giving Day fundraising outcome.
  • Restructured the center's data reporting system to standardize how CalFresh appointment trends, program utilization, and operational KPIs were tracked and formatted, aligning outputs with CSUN grant reporting requirements and simplifying the compliance process for external partners.
  • Overhauled the center's Acuity scheduling form and student-facing email templates to improve clarity and reduce friction in the appointment process; redesigned form fields and dropdown structures to standardize data collection, making it significantly easier to export and analyze appointment data for reporting and program evaluation.
  • Produced the center's recurring Mailchimp newsletter, managing content planning, layout, and distribution to keep students, staff, and campus partners informed of upcoming events, resources, and program updates.
